On January 10, WIHN hosted an evening of appreciation to thank our wonderful volunteers.  Hope Community Church provided a beautiful setting in their Gathering Place, and Casa Carbone provided a delicious buffet meal.  Many of our Day Center supervisors and church volunteer coordinators attended, as well as two families who graduated from our program.  All had an opportunity to enjoy fellowship with WIHN staff and board members.

By adding transitional housing, WIHN enables guest families to have a much higher chance of remaining independent through intensive case management services and stable housing.

The Transitional Housing Program serves each family for a period up to one year, up to 16 families at a time. It consists of four service components: intensive case management; life skills education and skill attainment; staff facilitated support group; and information and referral services. The service plan addresses: nutrition, budgeting, eating habits, healthy recipes for a tight budget, counseling for abuse, coping with stress, disciplining children, communication skills, education and job training, housing resources, and medical referrals.

Upon transition out of the program, each family will have attained stability in housing and work, and will be contributing to the community.
